Victorian Table

One day, we were allowed to play with a large old Victorian table. It was huge and had castors on each leg.  Us kids manhandled the table to the top of the keyhole, which is at the top of the hill on Fishponds Road.  About five kids launched the table down the pavement, all hanging on for dear life. Of course, when it hit the kerb at, I think Ansell Road, all the kids fell into the road screaming.  The table was then laboriously pushed back up to the top again and the performance repeated.  No parents ever got involved in these “games” but a wonderful time was had.
